Sometimes, the simplest game can be very
addictive. NRG qualifies as one of them. Developed by Webvisia,
NRG is a puzzle game in which your goal is to connect batteries
with light bulbs, no matter how many conductors you have
to add along the way.
To play NRG, you are provided with six
types of tiles, 4 of them are different shapes of conductor
wires, along with battery tiles and light bulb tiles. You
can use the stylus to change the direction of conductors
to line up the batteries and light bulbs, or drag the tiles
to move the items around the board. Tiles that make the correct
connections will disappear, and the new ones will fall from
the top. If you connect two batteries, the tiles will explode
by short circuit and leave empty spaces on the board. I find
that these are great staging areas to make very long connections.
There are two game modes: Easy mode and
Timed mode. In Easy mode, you can play as long as you still
have batteries and bulbs left on the board. Timed mode ends
when time runs out. Each type of tile has its score value,
and once a certain score is reached, you will be given a
bonus, which clears out all the burned conductors and makes
space for the new ones. There is also a Beam function for
you to share the game with your friends.
The graphics are sharp and the simple design
makes the game very easy to see and play. There are some
cool animations in the game accompanied by fun sound effects.
There is an in-game Power Off function that will allow you
to turn off the PDA anytime during game play, and pick it
up next time you turn on the power. NRG supports Palm OS
3.5 or higher and uses 170K memory.
Playing Hint and Tips
The longer the string you can make, the
better. If you want to line up a long connection, turn off
the connection between the battery and the closest conductor,
then turn it back on after you finish the rest of the line. |
