The award winning puzzle web
game Queue has been ported to Pocket PC and Palm. It
has everything the web game had to offer, including the same
pieces, levels, and just the right amount of fun. There are
100 levels and for even more fun, there is a 100 level expansion
pack for a total of 200 mind bending levels.
The idea of the game is to put the
pieces onto the space on the board where they belong. It
sounds simple, but there's a catch. Sometimes you have to
push pieces around with other pieces to move them both horizontally
and vertically. Also, when a piece is released from its "Pod" it
always moves three spaces from it. This is what makes Queue
challenging. Before you play, there is a quick tutorial on
how to play. Although it is barely a tutorial, it teaches
you how to play for the first time. You start with three
lives, and there is a timer for each level. If you run out
of time, you lose a life. I found it quite easy to lose a
life, which made the game quite difficult.
Queue is played using only your stylus.
To release a piece from the Pod, you need to tap on the red
button on the top of the pod. I found it quite easy to tap
on the buttons, as they were large enough. You do not need
to do anything other than tap on the buttons to be able to
play the game. The only other thing you may need to do with
the stylus is change the options, and that’s the same in all games I’ve
played before.
The graphics in Queue were not the
best I’ve ever seen,
but they were good enough for a mind/puzzle game. The buttons
were easy enough to see, but sometimes I found it difficult
to see what shape was in the pod. I noticed that the graphics
in the Pocket PC version of Queue were the exact same as the
web game, so if you’re addicted to the web game, you
will be able to pick the Pocket PC version up easily.
I noticed that there were only two
sound effects in the game. These were a “click” sound
and the sound of a cymbal. There was no music either, so
the experience was only livened up a bit with the two sounds.
Overall, Queue is a really fun game with a great concept.
It is easy to pick up and control, has average graphics, and
a little bit of sound. I enjoyed the game because it was easy
to understand, yet some puzzles were incredibly hard, making
for a great game experience. I hope you enjoy the game as much
as I did!
