Vexed 2.0, by Team Vexed vexed.sourceforge.net Free
Reviewed April 2002

Vexed is a fun and addictive puzzle game developed originally by James McCombe who released the source code with the game. As more developers contributed to the game design, Vexed became an Open Source project on SourceForge.net. Now there are several major developers who each contribute a significant numbers of levels as well as improving the quality of the game in every aspect.

The game play is actually quite simple. You need to match the tiles with same symbols. When the matching tiles touch, they will disappear. When all the tiles disappear, the level is solved. The game comes with a solution database and many level packs contributed by each member of team Vexed. The children's level pack will get your kids hooked on the puzzles and exercise brains for hours.

Playing Hints and Tips
If you are new to Vexed, start with the original levels. Once you get into the groove of the game, then you can move on to the more difficult levels.

Use the even number tiles to help match the odd number tiles. The scoring (like the "par" scoring system in golf) requires you to solve the puzzles within certain number of moves. So if you want to get a high score, you must solve the puzzles with fewer moves to get to under par. Hit the replay level icon if you are not satisfied with your score.

Ratings (scale of 1 to 5):

Graphics Very pretty to look at. The game comes with the Original, Jewels, Greek, Flags, Pill and Symbols tile sets. And it has pretty good animation for the tile movements.
Sound N/A Sounds of silence. . .
Fun Meter I've done over 50 levels, and I feel like I just got started. There are many level packs that come with the free game: 2 Classic level packs (from easy to hard), 2 Variety Packs (from easy to hard), a Children's Pack (very easy), a Twister Pack (hard), a Confusion Pack (very hard), a Panic Pack (very very hard), and an Impossible (yea, try this one, Einstein).
Addictivity Once you get the hang of the game, it's so addictive. With the solution, you won't get stuck on a certain level that's baking your noodle. I think I'm going to try all the level packs, and get my money's worth. Oh, wait! I didn't pay any money for this. Yippee!
