Kilmist WordSearch, by Kilmist $4.99
Reviewed May 2002

How fast can you spot a word in a sea of letters? You can test your speed in Kilmist WordSearch game. Developed by Kilmist, WordSearch is an old fashioned word puzzle game that will get you hooked for hours.

In Kilmist WordSearch, you're given a list of words that you'll look for in a grid of letters. You know, the same kind of game you probably played in the newspaper puzzle section or in a book of word puzzles where you find the hidden words. Even though there are 3 difficulty levels in the game, you could play just one level over and over again, and still feel the challenge because the letter grid is generated randomly on the fly. The words go in horizontal (left to right and vice versa), vertical (top to bottom and vice versa) and diagonal (left to right and vice versa, top to bottom and vice versa). If you are one of those people can recognize words by glancing at the letters, you will crank up the score very fast because the score is measured by how fast you can spot the words. And if you play multiple levels, you can build your score on your previous games.

If you feel the given words aren't your rap, you can also make custom games by entering your own words or add new words to the list as well. You can play in two-player mode where one player enters 5, 7 or 9 words and the words are embedded in the grid of randomly generated letters and the other player has to find them.

The interface of this game is simple but intuitive with embedded help files. The game files are very small and can run nicely from a CF card.

Playing Hints and Tips

Don't cross your eyes when you play this game. If your having trouble finding a word, here's a trick: say you're looking for the word "building". Scan the each row for the letter "b". When you find a "b" look to see if there's a "u" in ANY of the adjacent letters. The rest is easy!
