IPAQ 2490 and a Powered Ram Mount

Howdy !!
I have new Ram Powered Mount kit to setup for a IPAQ 2490 PDA.....the Ram Mount instructions want to know if I need to setup for a non null vs null modem.....I am not sure, can you help??
