Looks like you may have figured out how to enable the HQ option, even after I couldn't... I must admit I've had a shortage of patience lately.

The current version of iMovie 08 is build 577... I don't know if you can update without updating QuickTime, but that could explain why Importing is disabled for you but not for me.
