Carrying Averatec 1050-EB1 for one year of budget travel

Hi:

I am carrying an Averatec 1050-EB1 of the Averatec 1000 series for one year of budget travel. I bought the machine about a year ago and I have been traveling with it for about six months, primarily in India.

I have written up my experience of it here:

It has been a good machine so far: light and doesn't run too hot. It weighs 3.5 pounds, or 1.5 kilograms, and has a small A/C adapter. The screen is small but very bright and high resolution. This is the 10.5 inch (27 centimeter) series. It has withstood bus rides through the Himalayas and Indian airport security. I did have problems with bad sectors and booting, but recently Windows XP appears to have repaired itself successfully and lately, knock on wood, it has been behaving well.

With it, while on the road, I have developed and implemented a travel website with blog and gallery of my experiences.

If I were buying today I would probably get the Averatec 1150-EW1 from the 1100 series.
