Yes, I mentioned the lack of alert sounds for new email in our review. It's a bug and I hope Samsung and AT&T will fix it quickly.

Mine doesn't change ringer volume as the phone continues to ring. I might try changing the ring settings to something else, then back again just in case it's someone confused and stuck on increasing ring (despite what you see listed).
