I have to say mine is taking a long time as well. My 2G iPhone backed up in a snap (hardly knew it had happened). The 3G takes at least 5 minutes every time I connect it via USB to iTunes. Looking at the backup folders, the 3G iPhone back folder is about 76 megs while the 2G's were 7 megs. Wonder why...
