Re: Playstation 3 - Questions and Answers FAQ

So when I first plug in my PS3 to a TV, will I instintaniously be connected to the internet and is it free?

no. You have to get your internet connection from a ISP(internet service provider) such as DSL from your phone company or cable internet from your cable company. What is free is the ability for your PS3 to play on the internet. The xbox360 charges a monthly fee for playing multiplayer games over the internet.

And if I do connect to the internet, does that mean that I'll be able to play with other people online?

yes

Also, what exactly is broadband?

Broadband is highspeed internet. "Band" refers to bandwidth which is how much information can flow back and forth at once. Pretty much anything better than dial up is considered broadband.

If I dont have a HDTV, will it make my PS3 graphics seem like PS2? Also, if I don't have a widescreen, will some of the screen be cut out or will the PS3 adjust accordingly to the TV size? Thanks

I'm pretty sure that the graphics will still look better than the ps2, but they won't look as great as the could. I dunno about the last question.
