CES News: Klipsch Unveils iGroove SXT and RoomGroove for iPod

As the iPod continues to strike the right note with consumers and seize 77 percent market share, Klipsch plans to set a new precedent within the corresponding accessories space by launching a new high-style, high-performance all-in-one speaker solution: the iGroove SXT.

The iGroove SXT is a true two-way setup that employs dual 2.5-inch woofers in a ported enclosure, premium crossovers and dual 1-inch MicroTractrix Horn-loaded tweeters. In fact, Klipsch is the only company in this category to utilize horn technology, a design that delivers lifelike sound as well as produces more output using less energy.

The system accepts and charges all iPods with a 30-pin connector. Universal well inserts are included to securely dock the assorted models. The shuffle and other digital devices connect via a rear auxiliary input, while an S-Video output lets users view videos on external monitors. The iGroove SXT comes with an IR remote and is ready to perform as soon as you plug it in and dock an iPod.

Available in a black finish, the iGroove SXT also features a unique black cloth grille. Plus, it has a shallow enclosure depth, making wall mounting an option. Wall brackets will be sold separately on klipsch.com.

Slated to hit the market in April, the iGroove SXT will be sold through mass and specialty retailers and carry a $149.99 U.S. MSRP price tag.

RoomGroove Music Center

Part of the new KlipschCast multi-room product series that wirelessly streams Klipsch?s stunningly precise audio throughout a home, the RoomGroove Music Center is a standalone player that requires no wiring beyond a power cord and has a retractable iPod? dock.

Alone, the RoomGroove easily turns the iPod into a high-style, high-performance entertainment center. However, when used in conjunction with other RoomGrooves and/or the Klipsch CS-700 DVD Entertainment System (a 2.1 virtual surround sound setup), it becomes part of an expanded wireless home entertainment experience. Essentially, these KlipschCast products let users ?build? a high-performance, do-it-yourself multi-room audio system without having to lay wire, drill holes or retrofit any structures.

Simply, through its KlipschCast technology, the CS-700 sends a wireless CD-quality audio signal to one or more RoomGroove systems. This signal can be the same one playing on the CS-700 or something entirely different: The CS-700 is capable of playing up to two separate sources at the same time. For example, the CS-700 can play a DVD movie in the living room, while the RoomGroove broadcasts the CS-700?s AM/FM tuner in the kitchen.

The RoomGroove can also play music locally utilizing its retractable iPod dock, or through its auxiliary input for other MP3 players. Since the RoomGroove is a transceiver, it can transmit as well as receive, allowing it to send this MP3 music signal to other RoomGroove units throughout the house. In fact, users could create a multi-room music system with just RoomGroove units if they desired. The robust 2.4gHz wireless technology found in these products establishes unlimited add-on opportunities.

Price and Availability
The RoomGroove will become commercially available in April and will cost $349 each (U.S. MSRP).
