OQO Ups Specs on model 02 Handheld PC, Lowers Price, Changes CEO

Lots of stuff going on at OQO apparently. Today the announced that the OQO model 02's starting price has dropped $200, bringing the device into a more affordable zone. In addition they've added a 1.6GHz VIA CPU option for top speed, with the 1.2 and 1.5GHz models still available. The base hard drive capacity is up to 40 gigs and at the top there's a 120 gig drive (impressive for a device this size) and a 32 gig SSD (solid state disk) option.

A "base" OQO model 02 now costs $1,249 with a 1.2GHz CPU, 1 gig of RAM and a 40 gig hard drive running Windows XP Home edition. For $1,699 you can get the 1.5GHz version with a 60 gig hard drive and your choice of XP or Vista Business. All models have WiFi and Bluetooth, with a Sprint or Verizon wireless module as a $149 option.

New at the company helm is Dennis Moore, former general manager of the Emerging Solutions division of SAP. So far, we like what we've seen in his first day in office .
