Verizon launches Casio EXILIM rugged 5.1 megapixel camera phone

A strange combo: high end camera phone mixed will mil spec ruggedness, but that's what we have with the Casio EXILIM on Verizon.

The Casio is a twist and flip phone with a 5.1 megapixel autofocus camera that has a flash and 3x optical (yes, optical!) zoom. Max photo resolution is 2560 x 1920 (higher res than your monitor most likely) and it can capture video. Autofocus modes include single point and 9 point. It has best shot mode, an image stabilizer, self-timer and perspective adjustment (we assume that's some kind of barrel distortion fixer).

The phone meets military specifications 810F for water (immersion and rain), humidity, salt-fog, shock, vibration, dust, solar radiation, altitude and low and high temperature storage. Oh my...

The Casio EXILIM phone has EVDO for fast data and comes with V Cast with Rhapsody, VZ Navigator (GPS inside), Bluetooth with A2DP and a microSD card slot compatible with cards up to 8 gigs.

It will sell for $279.99 with a 2 year contract after rebate.
