Video review: Nokia E72 smartphone

Today we take a look at the Nokia E72 NAM (US North American) Symbian smartphone running S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2. This QWERTY bar phone is the follow-up to the very successful Nokia E71. The E72 looks every bit as chic and high quality as the E71 and maintains the super-slim form factor.

The Nokia E72 is sold unlocked for around $420 from, Amazon, Dell and others. It's an unlocked quad band GSM world phone with 3G HSDPA 10.2 Mbps on AT&T's bands and it has 3G for Europe. T-Mobile US users: it's EDGE only for you.

Improvements from the E71 include a 600MHz ARM 11 CPU, 512 megs of flash storage with approximately 260 megs free to store apps and data, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash that takes pretty good phones (way better than the E71) and a quicker GPS that works with the now free Ovi Maps.

The Nokia N900, Nokia N97 mini and the Nokia E72.

The E72 has WiFi, Bluetooth, Gallery for photo and video viewing (the video player handles quite a good selection of formats) and a 1500 mAh Lithium Ion battery. It comes with a full Office suite, Nokia's webkit web browser, Nokia's email client, an FM radio and Ovi software.

What's not so great? Like the E71, it has a now-dated QVGA 320 x 240 pixel display that measures just under 2.4 inches. That's pretty low resolution by today's standards.

Here's our 7 minute video review of the Nokia E72:
