iOS 4 is now ready for download in iTunes

Guess what guys and gals? Apple has released iOS 4, or iPhone OS 4 for those who don't speak in acronyms, via iTunes. I'm downloading the 378 meg OS update now for my iPhone 3GS. This is not a particularly fast download and it will likely get slower throughout the day as more folks hit that update button in iTunes.

The update is available for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch (except first gen). Of course, if you were one of the truly lucky ones that managed to pre-order the iPhone 4, you'll have that brand spanking new OS pre-installed on your new toy.

Once the update is done, I'll post info on how it went and more. I'm particularly looking forward to iBooks on the iPhone (tiny-paged books but hey), the unified email inbox and folders. Since apps must be built for iOS 4, I don't expect to see much 3rd party app multi-tasking right away.

We've done a video showing some of the new features in iOS 4 here:
