BlackBerry Torch 9800 live on AT&T site, touchscreen, QWERTY and OS 6

RIM has just barely started their NYC press conference for their new hotness, the BlackBerry Torch 9800, and ATT has already made it live on their site. This is the 'Berry we've been waiting for, since RIM needs something to maintain their lead in the smartphone space. The Torch features both a touch screen and a slide-down QWERTY keyboard. It runs the new BlackBerry 6 OS that seems to bring RIM into modern times.

Other features include the ability to search from the homescreen, WiFi 802.11n, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus lens, an optical trackpad, 3G HSPDA and Bluetooth 2.1.

The Torch has a 480x360 capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch that measures 3.2" and will be the first phone to feature RIM's new Webkit web browser. As far as we can tell, SurePress is gone (yay).

The BlackBerry Torch will be available on August 12 on AT&T for $199 with a 2 year contract.

You can check out AT&T's BlackBerry Torch page here.

Here's RIM's page for the Torch.
