As cold weather and snow grips much of the country, holiday and winter travel travelers with iPads will have a brand new weather application, iMap for iPad, to help plan trips and outings with friends and family. Load this up before you travel:
iMap, from industry leader Weather Decision Technologies (WDT), is a sophisticated weather application that delivers the best interactive radar map on the iTunes store. The application displays up-to-date, detailed information in the form of radar and clouds (satellite) as well as traffic, all on an interactive map, along with current conditions, 7 day, and hourly forecasts.
Notably, the iPad application allows you to see accurate and important weather alerts for the locations that interest you the most, and to check accurate weather conditions for up to 10 of your most important locations, easily and quickly.
The application offers multiple pins for saved locations, which are automatically marked on the map. Users select the pin, and all of the weather data automatically changes. iPad aficionados can enjoy automatic landscape or portrait orientation, and are able to switch base map layers - choosing between map, satellite, and terrain views
Severe weather layers such as watches and warnings are available for storms, ice and fog, winter and frost, and tornadoes. Weather-watchers can also check out local traffic to plan holiday outdoor pursuits and activities.
iMap sells for $3.99 and is available on the iTunes App Store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/imapweather/id405675667?mt=8#
