Neuroshima Hex Puzzle is a puzzle variant of one of the top board games currently available on the iTunes App store. If you haven't already played Neuroshima Hex then Neuroshima Hex Puzzle is also a good introduction to the board game and its rules.
Neuroshima Hex Puzzle features one mode of play called Hex-aches that has 100 levels of puzzles to solve. Each level has a predetermined layout of game pieces on the game board that requires you to use a predetermined set of three game pieces to win the game in one battle. Being able to solve the puzzles relies on your knowledge of the board game and all its rules. If you haven't ever played the board game before there is a nice tutorial and game manual to help you learn the rules. There is also an option to examine each individual game piece so you can better understand the different abilities of each one.
The puzzles are broken into ten groups of ten levels, each level and group being progressively harder than the last. It starts out in the first group with some very basic puzzles that walk you through the basic gameplay mechanics, this is really nice if you haven't played in a while or are unfamiliar with the game. The way the game challenges you to analyze each situation and know the rules of the game is a great way to learn the board game and help develop your skills for playing the board game.
Neuroshima Hex Puzzle is a wonderful variant of the Neuroshima Hex board game that is also a great introduction to the game if you aren't already familiar with it.
The graphics are very crisp and polished, the graphics and game interface have been designed very well to fit the post apocalyptic look and feel of the board game. The touch controls are very intuitive and easy to use and help make it feel like you're playing the actual board game. The game manual is easily accessible in game in case you forget the rules and there is also an information mode in each level that allows you to tap on any game piece and see all its info.
The back ground music is very ambient and fits the games theme well without being too over the top or annoying. There are plenty of nice sound effects for the games battle sequences and other game piece interactions. The only thing missing is the ability to play your own music.
Neuroshima Hex Puzzle is a very enjoyable game that should really appeal to any board game player and to some puzzle game fans who enjoy analyzing things to find the solution. There are 100 levels to keep you busy for hours and there are enough puzzles that replaying them a couple times is still fun. This game is well worth the asking price especially since it's a universal app that will look great on both the iPhone/iPod Touch and the iPad.
