Nook Color Update brings Froyo, Apps and Flash Player

We knew it was coming, but the wait seemed interminable. If you've got a Nook Color ebook reader, you can now download Barnes and Noble's update to firmware 1.2. This brings you Nook up to date with Android OS 2.2 Froyo, adds Adobe Flash support (isn't it ironic that the Nook Color ebook reader can play Flash but not the iPad 2?), and an app store where you can download 3rd party apps. Also new is an email client that handles web-based email like Gmail and Hotmail.



The update also brings more interactive content to Nook Books Enhanced (embedded video) and more interactive goodies for Nook Kids books. The UI gets an update as well.


You can wait for the update to come to you via WiFi download on the Nook Color (that could take a few weeks), or download it directly using your computer and the Nook's USB cable (worked like a champ for us).
