Kindle App for HP TouchPad Tablet Available Now

HP's "real launch" on July 17th might prove to be the end of the HP TouchPad tablet's early adopter period that started with US in-store availability on July 1. As promised by HP's new global head honcho of all things webOS, we've got the Amazon Kindle ebook reading application live now in the US webOS App Catalog for the TouchPad tablet.

The Kindle app can download all your Amazon ebooks, and it offers both single page portrait view and landscape facing pages view. Text settings are pretty basic with text size and brightness, along with a selection of one serif and one sans serif font. But we're thrilled to see it finally come to the TouchPad, and that tablet's sharp screen and 4:3 aspect ratio make for pleasant reading.

If you don't get an update notification, just go to the App Catalog and search for "kindle" to find and download the app. Happy reading!

Hopefully, we'll see the promised app update that brings the HP Movie Store, and maybe even a firmware update this month too.

And don't forget to read our HP TouchPad review.
