LG Thrill 4G Video Review, 3D We Actually Like

We've had the LG Thrill 4G in house for a few days, and I have to say, this is the first 3D mobile product my staff and I have actually enjoyed. No eye-crossing nausea, no headaches or gripes; it's really immersive (as much as a 4.3" screen can be) and it really looks 3D. Videos are particularly compelling, and especially with well-made professional 3D content, planes seem to soar out of the phone at you and ocean waves actually loom ominously. Cool!

Also cool is AT&T's surprisingly low $99 with contract price. This is a lot of phone for the price. The LG Thrill 4G, thankfully not called the LG Thrill 3D 4G, is an HSPA+ 14.4Mbps Android smartphone with a glass-less 3D autostereoscopic display and 3D camera on the back. It has dual 5MP shooters than can shoot 720p 3D content and 1080p video content. You can also shoot photos in 2D and 3D, and the camera is quite good.

The Thrill has a dual core 1GHz TI OMAP CPU that benchmarks well and can handle 3D (err, 3D games in 3D) easily as well as 720p 3D video that's locally stored or streamed. It has the usual Mobile Hotspot feature, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth and GPS. There's 8 gigs of internal storage and an 8 gig microSD card is also pre-loaded. The phone runs Android OS 2.2 Froyo (sigh, not Gingerbread), and LG says it's upgradable to 2.3 Gingerbread. There's no word on when, but that's fair since the phone doesn't have an official release date (we assume it's coming out really soon).
