Arkon specializes in car mounts for mobile devices that include mobile phones, GPS and even tablets. The Arkon Headrest Mount for iPad 2 can securely mount the tablet onto the back of headrest in a car for your passengers to watch movies or surfing the web. The Headrest Mount comes with a form fitting case for the iPad 2 and a sturdy mounting pedestal that can work on a flat surface as a stand as well as mount the tablet onto two poles like headrest of a car seat. The Arkon Headrest Mount is very easy to use, and offers flexibility on viewing angles as well as positions in both landscape and portrait orientations.
The Arkon Headrest Mount for iPad 2 comes in two main components, the tablet holder and the headrest mounting pedestal. The tablet holder is a form fitting case that covers most of iPad 2?s back. It has hard inserts with faux-leather-like material on the exterior of the case and soft fabric lines the inside. The case holds onto the tablet in four corners securely for car rides, even bumpy rides, but we didn?t test off-roading with the mount. The case has a very sturdy build and it?s easy to use.
The Arkon Headrest Mount for iPad 2 has a mounting plate permanently attached to the back of the tablet case. The mounting plate has dual ?T-slot? that works with many Arkon?s car mounts including the Headrest Mounting Pedestal that comes with the case. To install the mounting gear, take out the security screw, slide the mounting pedestal into the dual T-slot holes until it?s locked. Then put back the security screw, and done!
While the design seems simple for the Arkon Headrest Mount, the case and mount provide lots of functionalities to the iPad 2. The case has cutouts for all ports and buttons on the iPad 2. The case has a large cutout on the bottom to expose the 30-pin connector and the speaker grill. The side cutout leaves the screen lock and volume buttons exposed for easy access. The rear camera enjoys a large cutout, and the case leaves the top audio jack, mic and power buttons uncovered. You can certainly leave the iPad 2 in this case while not in the car as it?s a very protective and capable case.
The Arkon Headrest Mounting Pedestal is sturdy yet quite light. In fact the entire package is quite light, but don?t be fooled, the mount can handle the iPad 2?s weight and then some. You can adjust the angles of the mounting arms to position the tablet in portrait or landscape orientation easily, and when the tablet is in the right position, tighten the joint and the tablet will stay in that position. This is also useful if you are using the mount on a table and adjust the angles you want the tablet to sit in.
The two mounting arms are sturdy and well made. You can adjust how wide or narrow of the angles between the two arms and tighten the knob on top to lock them in the desired angle. When you need to mount the iPad 2 to the headrest, take out the headrest, slide the two poles into the mounting arms on the Arkon Headrest Mount, and tighten the adjusting screw on each arm to secure the mount onto the headrest.
The Arkon Headrest Mount for iPad 2 is incredibly easy to install and keeps the tablet steady on the road. The table case is very capable at protecting the iPad 2 and providing access to all ports and buttons. The headrest mount is well made and very easy to use with adjustments for viewing angles (360-degrees). And if the headrest mount doesn?t fit your needs, Arkon sells various windshield mounts, air vent mounts and more, you will likely find something that can mount the iPad 2 to where you need it. You can also use the set up in the office or home when you are not in the car.
