iPhone Game Review: Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice
Reviewed by SpaZtrigger
Detective Inspector Hector is back in a new adventure in Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice. Which is twice as long as the first one and twice as fun. Also for all you Lambert fans out there you'll be able to play as Lambert for a 1/4 of the game.
Like the first game, you play as Hector in a point and click adventure game. Continuing from the last game you start in the same building where Hector is met with a sniper rifle and has to find a way to escape. Of course at the beginning of the game you're forced to play in a tutorial where you have to escape the building without getting shot at by the sniper rifle. Finding the clues and using them could be hard to find thus impeding the progress of the player. Luckily for the players there is a hint system that you can use if your willing to let the game insult you a couple of times.
Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice is a fun game full of unique moments and epic twists making this game worth every single dollars. Also in Hector 2 you get to find out the identity of the criminal (even sooner if Lambert hadn't forgot to tell the important clue involving the terrorist). As Hector himself commented because if Lambert's stupidity he was forced to drug an entire restaurant, burn down a church, and make a kid jump off a building.
Full of wacky new characters Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice never ceases in bringing fun to the players. The game is a blast (quite literally, since Hector finds himself in a couple explosion during the game and one even involves him blowing up a toilet. Let's just say Lambert will never forget THAT moment) and it never got boring even through the 3rd play-through. Although the clues may have been a tad bit hard to find it was still an enjoyable experience full of twists and crude humor.
Some people complain that the game was to short but that's only because people rush through it, but if you take your time then you'll find that Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice can last for hours on end. Just one little problem was that the game was frequent to lag and stuttering which some players have been complaining about. While I'm sure the developers will fix the problem it should be known that the lag and stuttering issues does not make the game less fun in any way.
Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice has that unique cartoony design that everyone will love making it feel like a cartoon show shown on TV. In fact Hector was solely created to battle South Park for the title of Cartoon Comedy King. Still while the graphics are amazing people have also been complaining (there are a lot of complainers for Hector but greatness inspires envy so?) about there being no retina display update which really doesn't matter since the game looks fine without one anyway, but in the end it's all up to the developers. Like I previously said the animations are prone to lag and stutter so it is recommended that the player reboot his/her iDevice and restart the game.
Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice is exactly like its predecessor in the way that has great graphics and good touch controls. What changed in Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice was that it now required 2 taps in order for the player to skip the text which doesn't change the game a lot. Still the controls and graphics are as flawless as ever making Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice only get better.
Sound is where Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice shines it's brightest. Instead of only dull voiceless texts Hector brings in voice acting in every single line and this time the developers also got a female voice actor allowing there to be more female characters in game number 2. The voice acting is top notch and even more so when in the credits you see that every single male character is voiced by the same guy and yet all the characters sound completely different. Same for the female characters, all are voiced by the same person. Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice also has great music which fits every location and the characters that are there. Congrats for the music development team for making such great music and also congrats to the actors for doing their job so dang well.
If you could summarize Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice in two words it would be "Must Buy". Hector 2: Senseless Acts of Justice has great storyline involving the terrorist, superb voice acting, and wacky characters all for $5. If I could only get 1 app from the countless in the App Store this would be it.
