Ballistic has released an ultra-protective case for the Samsung Galaxy S III, the Ballistic SG Maxx Series Case, for those who need to protect the entire Android smartphone and be able to wear it on their belt or backpack or bag strap. The Ballistic SG Maxx Series Case for the Galaxy S III offers four pieces of protection and yet it's surprisingly light. The case comes in five color combos including White/Pink, Cobalt, Charcoal/White, Black/White, and Black/Black.
The Ballistic SG Maxx Series Case is designed to provide protection against shock, dust, scratches, bumps and screen cracks, but not against water damage. The case comes in four pieces and it's very easy to install or take apart. The Samsung Galaxy S III case comes with a molded plastic display protector that covers the entire the front of the phone. The screen protector is very different from the film protectors as it's a lot thicker and it doesn't stick to the display via adhesive. Instead, you use the TPU rubber case that covers the back of the phone to hold the front protector in place. One down side of the thicker screen protector is that the display is not as responsive as with thin film protector. The rubber case is soft and is thicker around the corners and the top and bottom to provide extra structural support should you drop the phone or bump it on a hard surface.
For even more structural protection, the Ballistic SG Maxx case has an impact resistant polycarbonate plastic cover that covers the back of the phone outside of the rubber layer. This plastic cover fits the phone via the rubber layer perfectly and wraps round the two vertical sides as well. There's another layer of soft TPU crafted onto the plastic cover for added shock absorption as well as providing a better grip when you're handling the phone. Finally, for the ultimate screen protection when the phone isn't in use, The Ballistic case has a sturdy holster with a swivel-able belt clip built-in to protect the screen and the phone. The Ballistic SG (Shell Gel) Maxx case is very well constructed and form fitting. While it adds bulk to the Samsung Galaxy S III slim phone, the case weighs only 4.6 ounces.
Even with four layers of the protection, the Galaxy S III is very functional while inside the Ballistic SG Maxx case. The case has cutouts for all ports and buttons and they are perfectly aligned. All the buttons on the phone are protected under the rubber layer with raised parts that makes it easy to use the Power and Volume buttons. Both the audio jack and the charging/syncing port have rubber covers that protect the ports from dust and link when they're not in use. The rubber covers are made intelligently and they don't get in the way of using the ports when you peel them open. The top and bottom mics have cutout holes to let the sound through.
The Ballistic case has perfect cutouts on the back through both rubber and plastic layers for the rear camera, flash and the speaker. The cutouts are centered and provide plenty of room for the flash to fully illuminate and the camera to see the full view. The front protector piece offers cutouts for the earpiece, sensor, LED and the front camera as well as the hardware Home button. The plastic back cover has two small cutout to work with the belt clip holder.
If you're looking for a super protective case that you can easily carry your Samsung Galaxy S III with you on your belt or bag, the Ballistic SG Maxx Series Case is a great choice. It provides excellent protection against scratch, nicks and bumps as well as some shock damages. The case protects the entire Galaxy S III including the front glass with a thick plastic protector. The Ballistic is very easy to use and offers cutouts and port covers and a built-in belt clip. The only thing that's a bit hard to use is the touch screen via the screen cover when compared to the thinner film protector, but that's a small price to pay for the protection against stronger scratches or bumps on the display. We like the five color combos that offer something for everyone's taste.
