I use UMPCs daily, not just during the time I write a review and I actually owned the Samsung Q1 (original Q1, not the newer Ultra which I found too slow) for 8 months and used frequently it during that time. That said, I'm sorry to hear that your Q1's display is acting up.
Did Samsung's customer service not try any troubleshooting with you once you finally got a live person on the line? Did they have any suggestions such as re-installing the graphics driver or if that didn't work, sending it in for repair? If you had it less than a month, it's under warranty and they should repair it if they can't get it working via troubleshooting over the phone.
