Zire 72 Flaking Blue Coating

Has anyone heard of any future modifications to the Zire 72 which would include the removal or fix to the flaking blue coating? This unit seems to have everything I would want in a PDA, but the blue coating is a deterrent.

Hi!!!

PalmOne has worked on this issue and the blue paint that keeps peeling off is going to be repaired if you send it to their repair center. As for the latest zire 72 that came out recently onwards, they will not have this problem. So if you are thinking of buying one, you can go ahead.

I hope so. I think that I'm going to buy it from Palm. I know that another retailer that I visited had the display out and it was flaking... not good advertisement.

It's good to hear that they are fixing the issue.

Definately going to buy from the PalmOne web page. I would like to think that they would give me a newer version. Not one that has sat on the shelf.

Hi,

I plan to buy Zire 72, but how I can be sure the unit I get does not have this problem of peeling off of blue paint. Is there any production date when this was corrected, any reference like batch no or serial no series. I don't want to buy an old stock and end up having the same problem.

I'm sure a Javoskin would help. It seems that the paint doesn't adhere to the very slick casing over the long term.
