Clie recognized as removable disk?
|
|
I'm considering to buy a Clie (new or otherwise) and would like to know if the PDA is recognized as a removable drive if plugged into the USB of a computer with WinXP without installing any software?
I own a Sony digital camera and it is recognized as a removable drive when plugged into the USB of a computer with WinXP. I am able to manipulate the contents of the camera's memory stick from any WinXP computer without needing to install any drivers.
I wonder if the Sony PDAs also demonstrate this convinience? If so, is this capability only limited to newer Sony Clie or can any Clie be a memory stick writer on a WinXP machine?

Digicams are setup to act like mass storage devices on PCs (show up as a drive). You need to install the Clie driver so that the Clie's Memory Stick shows up as a removeable drive. The internal memory will not mount as a drive (Palm OS doesn't support that).

Do you mean Memory Stick rather than Smartcard?
