Just got a "?" that probably alot of people have asked, seen many posts but was still unclear.

Is it possible for me to set up a pop3 account on an unlocked blackberry gsm phone by just using the phone service plan?
Lets say I bought an unlocked gsm blackberry from ebay and wanted to set up my "gmail" account on it. Can I do that without having to purchase data plans from my provider. I just want to slap my SIM card in there and hook up my gmail account to it so i can talk and get/send mail. Is this possible? Straight up, I don't think I can afford those $100/month plans.
