Apple App Store Hits a Milestone with 25K Applications

Fortune is reporting that according to 128Apps web site, Apple's App Store has hit another milestone:25,000th app, reached sometime overnight Thursday.

In mid-January, Apple announced that it had passed the 500 million mark in downloaded apps. And today's report puts the number of iPhone applications ahead of the number of applications for Windows Mobile phones.

According to a report by Global Intelligence Alliance Group, released on February 25, 2009, the former apps leader, Microsoft's Windows Mobile, which has been on the market for nearly 9 years, had an estimated 20,000 apps available from a number of random third-party application stores.
