iPhone is aiming to enter two of Asia's largest mobile phone markets, China and South Korea. While China's biggest mobile phone carriers are banding together against the iPhone, the Korean consumers are very interested in the product.
After two biggest Korean carriers KT, confirmed that it will carry the iPhone, and SK Telcom reportedly signing agreement with Apple to carry the iPhone, smartphonenow.kr did a customer survey. The survey showed 9 out of every 10 Korean consumers who are interested in smartphones have expressed their intention to buy the iPhone when it is released to the local market. According to a report by koreantelecom.com
According to the survye: "among 844 respondents polled as of August 7, 53% or 445 respondents replied that they were "Willing to buy unconditionally" and 39% or 329 respondents stated that they would be "Willing to buy conditionally according to factors such as price, whether it is a new product, and Wi-Fi support."
Meanwhile, SinoCast Daily business news has reported that the two major Chinese mobile carriers, China Mobile and China Telecom are joining hands against the iPhone 3G. China Mobile is scheduled to open its own app store and the company has been developing an OS based on the Android platform from Google. China Telecom has plans to release BlackBerry smartphones to the large mobile phone market. China Unicom, a Hong Kong carrier, is the first mobile carrier to carry the iPhone to China mobile phone market.
