The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and its sliding panels home screen looks totally commonplace and normal compared to the Xperia X2 and it's flying through outerspace puzzle look. The animations are fast and smooth and it all looks tres cool but we're not saying it scores points for usability.
On the hardware front it's all good, though not always exceptional. The 8 megapixel camera is mighty impressive and the 800 x 480 pixel display is sharp, though not very large. It all runs on a 528MHz Qualcomm CPU which won't set geeks' hearts on fire. The slide out keyboard features the same arc design as the X1 but it felt slightly more tactile. There should be a version with US 3G on AT&T's bands and it will be sold as an unlocked phone (don't expect it to be cheap).
