iPad Game Review: Fishdom H2O: Hidden Odyssey
Reviewed by Steven Scarpitti

Playrix delivers another puzzle gem with Fishdom H2O, this time it's a hidden object game mixed with beautiful aquarium building features.

Gameplay

Fishdom H2O: Hidden Odyssey only features one mode of play but it will be enough to keep you occupied for hours. The game starts you off with one empty fish tank in which you are suppose to fill it with fish, beauty, and comfort features to achieve a ranking high enough to unlock the next tank. There are three differently themed tanks to stock with a nice variety of fish and decorations that makes finding objects a real addiction. You earn money to spend on your fish tanks by completing a variety of different hidden object games. This is a really good mix of two game genres that work surprisingly well together.

Playrix has done a great job of keeping the game fresh and enjoyable not just with the two game types mixed together but also by offering different kinds of hidden object challenges, including finding items on a list with no time limit and finding as many of an object as possible within a time limit. You earn money by completing one of these types of challenges and can earn extra money by completing the challenge quickly or by not using any hints. While you don't get to choose what type of challenge you will face, you can be assured that you won't get stuck playing the same thing over and over again.

One of the nice things about there being three different tanks to customize is the fact that each tank offers something different, some of the fish will be the same in each tank but some will also be different. This goes the same for the beauty and comfort items, some will be the same but some will be different and all the tanks feature unique backgrounds. There is a lot a variety and a lot of fun to be had with this game, especially if you know where to look!

Graphics

Fishdom H2O has beautiful polished graphics that look bright and colorful, they really make playing this type of game fun and entertaining. The touch controls work perfectly and are very intuitive and easy to use. Playrix really delivers a gaming experience that you would expect from a top notch developer.

Sound

The background music is very soothing and calming, very well suited for this type of game. There are plenty of nice sound effects to mark your interactions in the game and to help keep you immersed in the game. The only thing missing is the ability to play your own music in game.

Conclusion

Playrix has demonstrated with several titles now for the iOS that they are game developer who knows how to make a polished and fun game. Fishdom H2O should really appeal to fans of hidden object games and fans of puzzle games, it should also appeal to most casual game fans in general. This game is well worth the purchase price as it has great replay value with the ability to endlessly play and customize your fish tanks.
