Playdek Releases Summoner Wars for iOS

Playdek and Plaid Hat Games has released Summoner Wars for iOS. Based on the popular and critically-acclaimed fantasy card game, Summoner Wars for iOS is the first free-to-play app from Playdek. Here is more info on this new iOS game:

In the free download of Summoner Wars, players take on the role of a Summoner and control the precise Phoenix Elves who battle against challenging AI opponents. Seven additional faction decks such as the brawny Tundra Orcs, the calculating Guild Dwarves and the righteous Vanguards are also available through the game's in-app store, and online gameplay access is available after the first purchase is made.

In Summoner Wars for iOS, players cast spells, summon warriors to a battlefield and tactically maneuver them in an effort to defeat their opponent's Summoner. Each faction offers unique play and requires players to adapt to the special strategies available to that faction.

Players who have made a purchase can play online games with full asynchronous support. With online access, players can also play more than one game at a time, making the Summoner Wars experience last.

For those who wish to take the game to the next level, a deck-editor allows players to select the cards in their factions, within the confines of the rules. Changing cards can affect game play, making the game infinitely customizable.

Summoner Wars for iOS features include:

. Phoenix Elves Faction is free
. Four AI opponents allow intense competition and strategy
. Seven new factions are available to purchase
. Eight Reinforcement Card packs are available to purchase
. Mercenary Card pack also available to purchase
. Online play unlocked with first purchase

You can download the game for free on the iTune App Store:

Re: Playdek Releases Summoner Wars for iOS

I was pretty stoked for this as the anticipation was killing me! The interface feels a bit clunky and, as a faithful adaptation of the real board game's art, the presentation isn't all that slick or animated, but there is a cool game there all the same.
