The Griffin Protector Case for iPhone 5 is one way to protect your iPhone from everyday collisions. It ain't pretty, but it's cheap.

Size and Fit

The Protector, being made entirely of silicone, installs in seconds and wraps your iPhone 5 in a cocoon of soft, squishy protection. It fits snugly (although, it remains to be seen if it stretches out over time like all silicone cases I have ever used), and gives full access to ports, buttons, and switches, as well as the camera and speaker. Aside from their tendency to stretch over time, the problem with cases made entirely of silicone is their size, and the Protector is no exception. Once clad in the Protector, your iPhone will look and feel significantly larger.

Features and Quality

The Protector succeeds in exactly the way it was meant to: Good affordable protection without a lot of frills. While the Protector is not a feature-rich case, it is definitely well-made, and you should expect it to hold together for as long as you use it.

Style

In spite of the fact that the Protector comes in 7 colors, once installed, you should expect your iPhone 5 to look like it has traded its standard equipped evening gown/tuxedo for a pair of fat jeans and an un-tucked Big Dog shirt. This is not an attractive case in any color.

Summary

The Protector by Griffin provides good everyday protection for your iPhone 5 at an attractive price. Unfortunately, the price is the only thing that is attractive about the Protector, so if you are looking for something that can protect while looking good, look elsewhere. If aesthetics aren't important to you, however, and you're a budget conscious shopper with a tendency to drop your iPhone, this may be exactly the case you're looking for.
