Users who purchased a Pocket PC e750/755 Series device from May 23, 2003 - Sept 23, 2003 are eligible to upgrade to the new operating system for free plus $15.99 for shipping and handling. Customers who purchased the Pocket PC e750/e755 Series with the Pocket PC 2002 operating system before May 23, 2003 will be able to upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 for $50.00 (shipping and handling included)**. In the press release linked in my previous post, Toshiba currently only offers upgrade to PPC 2003 for certain e750/755 series. You cannot upgrade your e740 right now. It's very hard to say if Toshiba will offer upgrades to other models. |

is it safe to upgrade to the 2003 version? any ideas if all your info stays intact and everything works as it should? (buttons etc) |

The upgrade will wipe out your Pocket PC. You should NOT restore from a backup after upgrading because you will overwrite system files with older versions. Instead,use a different syn name for your upgraded Pocket PC. When you sync, all your PIM data (Outlook stuff) will get synced to the PDA. Then re-install your applications. |
