Various forums have posted information about the Windows Mobile 5.0 Treo 700wx coming to Sprint. Apparently the Palm store in Los Angeles is selling them for $649 without contract and other Palm stores have told customers they have them but can't sell them until Sept. 3rd. Supposedly the Treo 700wx will be available for order to Sprint business customers on August 31st and to the general public on Sept. 3rd.
We can't confirm those dates yet, but we can confirm the device is for real: our local Sprint corporate store rep said he'd have them in stock within a few weeks.
Other than different carrier customizations (i.e. Sprint Mail vs. Verizon's email service) the device is identical to the Palm Treo 700w on Verizon EXCEPT that the 700wx has 64 megs of RAM rather than the 700w's 32 megs. The 700w is a great device but it was a little short on RAM and 64 megs is the standard on Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC phones, so that would be a welcome improvement. The phone should have Microsoft's AKU 2 update which adds support for push email and has several bug fixes as well.
