T-Mobile and Kyocera today announced the Kyocera Hydro XTRM 4G LTE Android smartphone. T-Mobile will begin offering the waterproof, drop-proof and shock-proof smartphone in its business-to-business (B2B) channel beginning November 20. Here are the details on the Hydro XTRM:
The Hydro XTRM is IP57 certified for protection against dust and full immersion in up to a meter (3.28 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes. With its reinforced corners and slightly recessed, impact-resistant display, Hydro XTRM also takes drops and bumps in stride, meeting Military Standard 810G standards for shock and drops.
Hydro XTRM's durable design eliminates the need for bulky, expensive protective cases, while its 4G LTE connectivity and 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor make a strong platform to run the myriad of productivity applications created by businesses or publicly available from the Google Play store. Kyocera's proprietary, award-winning Smart Sonic Receiver technology helps users hear conversations in the noisiest industrial environments, even when wearing helmets or bulky ear protection. The phone has Wi-Fi calling support to help manage mobile-network usage and can act as a Wi-Fi Hotspot, giving high-speed connectivity to multiple other devices.
Other features of the Hydro XTRM include a 4-inch impact-resistant touchscreen with fringe field switching (FFS) technology for improved graphics and wider viewing angles, 5.0 megapixel rear-facing and 1.3 megapixel front-facing cameras, and a powerful 2000 mAh lithium ion battery that is assisted by Kyocera's proprietary Eco Mode and MaxiMZR apps to manage and conserve every last bit of power.
