I was told there is an auto-answer feature where the headset will automatically connect after a certain number of rings. Does the Motorola HS820 (which i currently use) or any other headset support such a feature???

As far as I know, auto answer is a phone-based feature, not a headset feature. So if you phone offers that feature, it should work regardless of whether you're using the handset or the headset for calls.
