To remove PPC apps, you have to exit the program you wish to remove first: follow the progam's uninstall instructions if available, or use the running tasks under the memory applet to kill it if necessary and set the program to not run at boot first. Wait about 15 minutes, then reboot the PPC. Why? Because Windows Mobile sometimes keeps running programs' DLLs in memory for up to 15 minutes after you've exited the program. If they DLLs are in use, uninstall won't be compete because the device believes the files are still in use.
That said, once you've done a partial uninstall, the only way to do a complete un-install is to first re-install the app, then uninstall it properly. If MortSaver has uninstall instructions in a read me file, follow those. Or you could delete the files manually, if you know what they are and where they are (the PPC remove programs applet usually tells you what files were left behind).
That's all very good information - Thank you. Once final question (I hope): How do I reboot the PPC? It has an on/off button, but things still run when it's "off". I can still recieve phone calls/email etc. I would think a reboot would be a total shut down. There is a "reset" button on the bottom, but I think that reset's everthing to factory defaults, no?

Stick the stylus tip in the soft reset hole. The getting started guide should have a diagram showing you where that is.

Ok, So having a bit of a PDA background I get this 6700 and so far it seems like one of the best devices ever manufactured for public use. My questions are trivial. I have read through the thread(s) - this site and others - and just can't seem to get the USB modem connection working.
Simple install, base stuff w/ PHM RegEdit and the MultiIssueFixer as referred to by many. Also did the BT DUN Service (nice) I have also confirmed the 'MutexFlag'; it is set to '0' Activestink is not connected, etc...
Tried this on multiple laptops, multiple USB ports on each (to each it's own). I temporarily see a USB device, find the driver - then once I connect it disappears.
I really think this 6700 is a work of art, but resolving this piece of the puzzle would make it a true masterpiece! TIA, ~M

If you are trying to use the 6700 as a wireless modem for a laptop you should get a program called PDAnet - it's worked for me so far. Very easy to use, just install it on the laptop and 6700 and your good to go.

To enable simultaneous WiFi and phone use on the XV6700:
First get a registry editor, for example PHM Regedit which is free, or download the 14 day trial version of Resco File Explorer (excellent app!) which comes with a registry editor.
Use the editor to do the following: Go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE -> SERVICES -->WirelessMGR
Edit the WirelessMGR entry called mutexflag and change the value from 1 to 0.
That's the only edit!
Save your changes and exit.
Wait 15 minutes then soft reset the phone to reboot it.
You're all set!

I just bought the VX6700 based Mobile Techs review. It is awsome, better than expected.
The article mentioned a "simple registry edit" to allow WiFi and the phone to work at the same time. I have no idea how to do that. Any guidance?
The article:

Does this also allow me to be on the phone while I'm on the EVDO network? If not, is there another registry edit I can do to allow the phone and EVDO to be working at the same time? The ability to stay always connected to the EVDO network would be nice as well

So, I am new to this forum and have read these posts about the vx6700. I am confused because I just went to the verizon store and they told me that these phones cannot be used as modems..and that maybe there might be the ability too later in the year! Are they lying? Can someone clarify this.. thanks

The phone, like most all Verizon phones, has Bluetooth DUN disabled. Folks have worked on hacks for this, some of which are mentioned at the beginning of this thread.

Check the CD that came with your phone for the driver/documentation.

No need to do regedits just goto http://support.vzw.com/phones/index.html?p=2200
Then look for Downloads on the bottom right of page. Click upgrade. Make sure you do a full sync.
Good Luck.

I just bought mine, too (8/15/06). Love it. I downloaded the newest software update from the Verizon website and happily discovered that it provides the capability for voice dialing, absent from the original phone software. The Comm Manager also has new icons, but they are confusing. Verizon tech support was of no assistance in understanding them.

I recently downloaded an "update" from UTStarcom which allows wi-fi and phone use at the same time. Problem: 1 it also loaded a "Voice Speed Dial" program which turns itself on every time I try to listen to mp3s via my bt headset, Cyberon supplied a reg edit and I downloaded the PHM but it won't install. I have never edited a registry before HELP, please. Problem 2 Microsoft Reader was working and now won't I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, different versions, etc any copyrighted versions say I have to reactivate and I have tried that too.
