Need WiFi, PIM & Office
      #10247 - 04/24/04 03:55 AM

Looking for suggestions on a PDA: on the road alot so WiFi is a must, PIM will be first mission; then receiving, editing and sending out excel and word docs, after that, sending, receiving, and replying to emails; and finally listening to music. Have looked at the Dell Axim 3i, and the HP 5555. Any comments? Also wondering what experienced users think of hard keyboards vs soft

Both iPAQ's and Dell's wifi works very well with everything we tried. iPAQ does have a leg up in the connectivity department: it also has built-in Bluetooth. If you have a BT phone and not close to a Wifi access point of a hotspot, BT can come in handy.

What do you mean hard keyboards vs soft? Does "soft" mean on-screen keyboard or external keyboards made of soft material? Personally I like using the true touch type keyboards like this one: http://www.pdabuyersguide.com/tips/stowaway_IR.htm because there is no learning curve and works with almost all PDAs I use.

Thanks for the reply and the tip on blue tooth it is good to know and probably tips the scale on which unit to buy. The question about keyboarding was focused on the PDA keyboard comparing the onboard keboard of the Palm Tungten C and the iPAQ H4355 vs the soft screen and stylus input of most other PDAs. The attachable keyboard you reference looks good and if your are going to have all the power of the HP 5555, you might as well be able to use it with a keyboard. Thanks

No problem. Another good thing about Bluetooth is the accessories such as Bluetooth GPS, Bluetooth headsets, etc.
