For some reason, my Bluetooth on my iPaq 2215 won't come on anymore. It says I need to do a "normal reset." I have programs installed to my PDA and also to a SD card. I just recently did a full backup. If I do a reset, and I load the backup. Will everything work again? Will I have to reinstall my programs? Will I have to reinstall the programs to my SD?
Just curious.

A "normal" reset means a soft reset. Poke the stylus into the reset hole on the PDA to reboot it. That won't erase the data on the PDA.

I soft reset mine every morning, but it still won't work. That's why I figured it meant a hard reset because I would soft reset it, but bluetooth was a no go.
Know what's wrong?

Sorry, I don't know what's wrong You could try taking the battery out for a few minutes, sometimes that fixes odd networking problems with built-in wireless.

It's ok. I'll play with it.
But, hypothetically, if I DID do a hard reset and then restore a backup, would my programs (including SD) work? Or would I have to reinstall everything?
I'll play with the bluetooth, but I'd like to know this answer before playing too much.
And thanks for your help.

Yes, a backup will do the trick. Simply restore your backup and your PDA should be back just the way it was. A hard reset doesn't affect SD or CF cards, so you won't have to worry about them. ActiveSync doesn't back up cards, FYI.

Well, I did a hard reset and it did fix my bluetooth. But then I restored and my bluetooth was gone. Says "insufficent driver memory." I dunno what's wrong.
Gotta restore my events now...

I'm pretty sure it's a piece of 3rd party software that's conflicting. Some apps load background processes which can compete with built-in driver processes like BT. The Pocket PC can only support a limited number of processes (why, oh why?).
Drivers for add-on networking cards, some calendar/reminder replacements and camera drivers are examples of apps that load additional processes.
Also make sure you keep about 5 megs of internal memory free.

The only software I have that is listed is just a today plugin. Calendar+. Other than that, I don't know what it could be. I'll get home today and post a list of all my software.
