I am planning to play movies on my Hp iPaq 4155/4150 and here are my questions:
1. What software/s do I need to play movies in my iPaq? 2. Do I need to change certain settings in my ipaq for better movie viewing? 3. Is the windows media player useful for such purpose? 4. How can I save movies in my iPaq? Can I compress or convert movies consuming large memories in order to make it smaller?
Thanks for your help....

Pocket Windows Media player is indeed great for playing Windows Media format movies. If you want to play other formats such as DivX, MPEG1 and AVI, get a copy of the free Pocket MVP movie player- it's great stuff.
Sure you can encode movies smaller, then drag them to your SD card. There are many PC apps for encoding video, several of them free.

So it means that I cannot play DivX, MPEG1 and AVI files using pocket windows media player. What are the files that the windows media player can play? And among this type of movie files, which is the smallest but has the better resolution? By the way, can you tell me how I can transfer movie files to my Ipaq? Should I copy the whole movie file from a vcd/dvd to my pc then transfer the same to my memory card?

Pocket Windows Media player can play Windows Media format files (ASF) as well as MP3 music.
You can't just drag DVD files to your Pocket PC since they're in a format the Pocket PC can't play. You'll need to get a conversion app for your desktop to convert them. VirtualDub is a free conversion app, and there are many others.
DivX is generally the most compact format, while MPEG1 tend to be large.
