Here in Canada, all of Palm's retailers seem to be having a special where you get a Tungsten E along with the Palm Tungsten E hardcase for $299 (CDN + GST)
On the other hand, TigerDirect is selling a Toshiba e400 Pocket PC for ~$250 (CDN + GST) and an Innopocket case for this can be had for $40
So as there is negligible price difference, I was wondering if someone could recommend one over the other? This'll also be my first modern PDA (I had a couple of pocket organizers *WAY* back in the day). If there isn't an obvious answer: I tend to read a fair number of papers (.PDFs) and MS Office documents (Word, PowerPoint), so I like storage capability, but I also would like a nice screen so I can read them easily. I plan to use the PIM features a fair bit, so I like ease of use. I'd also like to break out every once in a while, so I'm wondering about whether the 126 MHz ARM will be up to snuff for playing games.
I like the Tungsten's appearance, but I heard that doesn't last terribly long. In regards to the cases, it'll be tossed into a backpack and probably (ab)used a fair bit, and I've read some reviews saying that the offical PALM case wasn't really that durable, got scratched up rather easily, and made the Tungsten hard to use.
As for the speed, in general Palm OS doesn't need as much power as Windows Mobile OS. So you won't notice the performance differences much. As for cases, we always suggest that you get a good protective case that will meet your daily using and carrying requirements. Check out the vendors here:
