Hi!
I am wondering if there is a way to change the image myinfo.gif that is shown when starting Pocket PC 2003 (iPAQ5550). I had tried it but the image is stored in protected area of ROM which can not be deleted, renamed or changed. However, I have seen sombody mentioning in another forum that it is possible. May be it depends on the PDA model. Hope sombody could help. Thanks.

Try using the ActiveSync explorer to copy the file over to the Pocket PC. If that doesn't work, a 3rd party Pocket PC file explorer like Resco Explorer often does the trick.

When I tried to create myinfo.gif file from JPEG images resolution was unacceptable. I think it was mainly due to change from true color to 256 colors. To solve this problem I created JPEG image with 240x60 pixels and renamed it myinfo.gif. It is perfect! I am not sure if all pocket PC support renamed format because some of the PC software could not open it.
