Hiya,
I posted this in the other forum, had alotta views but no responses so I guess I will try it here.
I am new to pocket pc's n stuff and I have been trying to find info from the local shops but no one has been able to help me.
What I need is a phone/PDA that can access the full ebay site (not the WAP version).
I attend auctions and what I want to be able to do is look up an item I am considering bidding on, on ebay using the 'completed' search function while at the auction. I need to be able to see the picture as well as the description.
I know I can get this with a laptop but this is too cumbersome for what I need.
Does anyone know what I need to get to be able to do this? PDA brand? Service Provider? Cards? etc? Any info on everything and anything I need to get would be appreciated.
-------------------- Thank ya, Thank ya very much!

I have no trouble using eBay (including search) from Pocket PCs running Windows Mobile 2003. You might consider the iPAQ 6315 reviewed on our site or the Samsung i700 from Verizon.

Thanks for your reply
You are referring to the actual ebay site and not the wap version? The wap version doesn't have the completed search function and that is what I need.
I did try out some when I visited the verizon store, while I was able to access the ebay site. It had trouble loading the page, I managed to get to the completed search page after some finagling around but it just hung when I tried to use it. The sales people couldn't tell me if it was the Samsung pocket pc or the wireless service and they didn't know if it was possible to get that function to work.
I figure if the pocket pc has 64 mb of ram it should be able to load the webpage but I just need to know before that they can handle what I need it for or there is no point getting one.
I will look at the ones you suggested, thanks again!

As Greg mentioned, both the iPAQ 6300 and the Samsung i700 can do the trick. The Pocket IE bundled with these devices are pretty good with all sites, but if you want something fancier, check out ThunderHawk browser. Their 2.0 version which has just been released is super fast:

Thanks for the info!
It even looks like a phone could do it using this browser, which is what I was initially looking for.
I emailed their technical support to ask about this, will have to see what they say.

Hello ,
I bought the ipaq 6315 to access Ebay COMPLETED WITH PHOTOS .I need it to use for
buying at auctions and antique shows ,swapmeets .
But NO , no ebay for me .
AND the wap.ebay.com will only SOMETIMES let me do a search , and
even then it will never let me into completed .
As a telephone , it stinks .But T-Mobile told me that up front .
The only time I use the phone is to call someone up to
get them to look something up on Ebay for me ..
Before this ipaq I tryed the Blackberry 7100t .
On the blackberry , I could see the photos on the Ebay pages ,
and the page could take up to half an hour load . But NEVER could
"sign in" to ebay ,and NEVER could get into completed auctions .
The WORST thing this about the Blackberry is that it would freeze up about
eight times a day ,into this forever spinning hour glass mode .
Then I would need to pop out the battery so it could reset itself .
The BB has a netscape browser - the ipaq has internet explorer .
What I want to know ,is there ANYONE OUT THERE who REALLY can get
EBAY COMPLETED WITH PHOTOS on either the BB 7100t or the ipaq 6315 ?
Would having the ipaq or BB unlocked make any difference ?
Thanks
if you can offer any advice .
