Does the appointment alarm sound when the PDA is off?

Dumb newbie question:

The Tungsten T3 seems really nice, but I'm concerned about the short five hour battery life.

I've never owned a PDA before, so I was wondering: If the T3 is turned off and an appointment time occurs, does the PDA turn itself on and sound its appointment alarm?

If I have to leave the PDA powered on all the time so that I don't miss appointments, it seems like I should look elsewhere. I can't have the T3 tethered to a power cord all day long.

Yes, all PDAs will turn on and sound alarms if you've set a reminder/alarm. Otherwise, they'd be pretty useless as organizers/reminders.
