Hi,
I have just been into my local Futureshop and Staples stores in Toronto to find to my suprise that they are still selling the Zire 72 model that has the peeling problems. I am in the market of purchasing a 72 but I will not buy one that still has this problem. Do you guys know if the peeling problem has been resolved? I can't find any info on Palm's official stance to this problem. When would be seeing the 'new and improved' models of the 72 in our nearest store.
Thanks

hi,
palm is doing nothing about it...palm doesnt even care about it...but, otherwise, the zire 72 is a good piece.

I bought the Zire 72 in July after losing my 71. The peeling began within weeks. I contacted Palm. They did not offer to send me another one before sending mind back. I sent my off. Had to pay the postage. They sent me a new one or a refurbished one. It looked good. Until a few weeks later. Same problem. What a bunch of jerks. This time I have it in a metal protective jacket and the peeling is less apparent. You would think Palm would care more about their reputation. Whoever is running this Zire 72 project and came up cutting corners with the cheap paint job, ought to be fired. I have lost a lot of love for this company.

I know one fellow on the web that simply stripped off the entire coating after it started to peel. He decided that it looked better after being peeled. Not a suggestion, just a data point.
Every PDA manufacturer has its share of horror stories. I left Palm over the m5x5 fiascos. I came back to Palm after Sony dissed me on a screen replacement. On it goes...
