Ok. I'm a complete idiot when it comes to PDAs and GPS, etc.
Here's what I want: - Good battery life - GPS capable (giving up to a 10 digit grid coordinate anywhere around the world, elevation, streets, cities, etc) - MS Word "capable" (can view and to a edit to a lesser degree *.doc files) - MS Excel "capable" - MS PowerPoint "capable" - Notepad - Calendar - Address book - Lots of memory OR capable of handling a BIG memory chip (1GB+)
I've heard of this Garmin IQue, but I don't know if I have other choices. I'd like for the GPS and PDA features to be all in one. Someone help this poor dolt out.
However, if you don't mind having an external GPS (in CF card format, SD card, via serial cable or Bluetooth wireless), then you can pretty much find a GPS receiver to work with almost all PDAs. You can check out these GPS packages here:
PIM apps (contacts, calendar, to-do, notes) come on all PDAs. Almost all PDAs come with some apps that will work with MS Word and Excel as well as PowerPoint. These apps usually support view/edit/create Word and Excel files, often view PowerPoint files.
As for storage, PDAs can take any size expansion cards as long as they have the slots. CF cards still have larger capacity than SD cards right now, but SD is catching up. Here is our page regarding storage:
