I read through several reviews on this site yesterday and thought I'd try the Palm Zire 31. I stopped at Office Depot on the way home & decided I liked the Tungsten E better. In doing more research, I found that Palm only offers a limited 90-day warrant on all its' products now. In addition, they have, to me, an extremely high failure rate, particularly when it comes to the batteries (that can't be replaced by the user). I've decided I won't be getting a Palm, although I did find plentiful posts on Amazon and other sites from others who decided to purchase one, but also purchased an extended warranty.
I find it interesting and am kind of disappointed that not one review that I read on this site mentioned the limited warranty or failure rates.

Unfortunately, the 90 day warranty is becoming increasingly common with PDAs (and lower end PCs). HP iPAQs mostly have 90 day warranties as well.

Also remember not all palms have the 90 day warranty... for example, the T5 and T3 ship with a 1 year warranty.

I believe that my T3 had a 90-day warranty until it was registered, then the warranty extended to one year. The same may be the case with your Z31.
