HP iPaq 2210 Won't Recognise Battery?!?!?!?!?!?!?
      #20310 - 06/20/05 08:48 PM

Hi guys.

As you can see, I'm new to this forum but I have a puzzler for you all!

I've had my 2210 for almost 2 years now & it has always functioned perfectly. However, about a week ago, for no apparent reason, it ceased to recognise the battery & refuses to charge when in it's cradle!

It did get a slight knock just prior to this but it was so innocuous that had it not started to play up, I probably wouldn't have even remembered it. The unit is otherwise perfect & although it doesn't charge in the cradle, it does allow you to switch it on & use it normally. If you go to the power settings, rather than the usual battery status indicator, it simply says "AC Only" & as soon as I remove it from the cradle, it switches itself off because it thinks it has no power supply.

I've tried the usual soft/hard resets & even flashed the ROM but nothing so far. Any suggestions any of you may have about how to remedy this would be much appreciated as this is my most used gadget, not least my TomTom SatNav system.

Cheers.

Dan

Since it's 2 years old, you might try getting a new battery. But first, try cleaning the contacts on the battery and the iPAQ with just a dab of rubbing alcohol and a non-linty piece of cloth or towel paper.

I've tried cleaning the contacts but that didn't work. Am in the process of sourcing a new battery & will let you know if that solves the problem.

Back soon
